Vision: We will be a Top law practice in East Africa; There is always room at the top.
Mission: Capture and Scale Up the Hills of Law Practice in East Africa.

It is hard to explain excellence, often it is a relative term, but the top of anything is a matter of perspective. You know what the top of a mountain is, or even a building. “There is always room at the top” is a remark popularly attributed to the American politician Daniel Webster (1782-1852) and is said to have been his riposte after he had been advised against joining the legal profession on the grounds that it was already overcrowded. He went on to become a renowned attorney, politician and statesman. We derive our vision from such a courageous statement. The top is our ultimate vision.

We are commissioned to captire & scale up the Hills of law practice; hence we call ourselves, The Hill Team. Our head office in Nairobi is located at Upper Hill, Hill Plaza right on top of the intrigues of law practice! The Hills of law practice are numerous. The Hills we are commissioned to scale range from excellence in the technical practice areas and skills, customer service, professional growth and fulfillment, creativity, innovation, team work, knowledge and law practice management. The Hill Team's mission is to these Hills of law with integrity and excellence.
Firm History
The firm started in 1998 in Mount Kenya region at Nyeri; popularly known as 'the slopes'. The firm has a record in diverse areas of law and continues to develop in various practice areas. Today, the firm's Head office is at Hill Plaza in the Capital Hill area (Community) of the City of Nairobi.
Key Guiding Principle
Endearing Customer Service We believe we cannot capture and Scale up the Hills of Law Practice without our key stakeholders, the customers. We therefore endeavour to provide endearing customer service. In explaining the principle of endearing customer service, we associate ourselves with the words of Angelique Tam, the Head of Customer Relationships of Cathay Pacific Airways. He said;

“service straight from the heart means that our staff have to be resourceful, and be able to find sensible on the spot solutions. They need to be dynamic and be proactive and find opportunities to excel and serve our customers well. We also expect them to show the highest standards of care and professionalism so they need to be fully committed. We want to create an experience that makes our customers feel welcome, comfortable, appreciated and above all, re-assured. This is not as easy as it sounds. We need to be friendly but not overly intimate, caring but not over-attentive, efficient but not mechanical, consistent but with a willingness to be flexible, anticipating but not presumptuous and professional but very approachable.”
Motto (Philosophy) `Everything else is delay`
Imagine it is 7.00 pm. You go to a supermarket to buy groceries for dinner. You walk the shelves, select your items, put them in the trolley, and journey to the cashier, and when you get there he says the practice is that before you conclude the purchase, he has to refer the offer to purchase to his managing director, who in turn refers it to the supermarket`s lawyers to draw up a sale agreement. The lawyers will require it stamped in 4 days and then registered with the Sale of Goods Registry, in two weeks, ( but this could delay more because your particular goods file is missing from the Registry!). Only after such registration are you allowed to take home the grocery.

Ordinarily, when a person is buying a house, upon agreement, the buyer owns the house (in his mind), and the seller needs the money. Still this is only in the mind not yet a solid transaction. This will involve a process that can delay to agonizing limits. All the intervening activities as legal services that lawyers do add no value whatsoever to the comfort of occupying the house, or the value of the money. Until the house is yours and until all the conveyancing procedures are done owning the house still remains a mirage in the mind. It is a painful wait; and the customer still pays for it.

At The Hill Team, we believe that after the agreement is reached everything else is a delay in the realization of the customer objectives; our only useful purpose is to mitigate that delay. When two 'parties' ('people' in ordinary language) have reached 'consensus ad idem' ('agreement' in ordinary language) for example, in the case of a commercial transaction, the deal is struck; Everything else is performance. We believe, therefore, that our work is to mitigate pain of the unavoidable legal processes necessary to pass the benefits to each party.
